V.Chumak noted that the Committee actively works to establish public formations at the Committee and improve legislation in the sphere of corruption prevention and counteraction.  

 

The Committee Chairman informed that it is planned to hold a round table discussion “State anticorruption policy: assessment of civil society” on March 20. He stressed also that openness to fruitful dialogue at all levels is one of the main tasks of the Committee’s policy.   

 

V.Chumak emphasized that “Norwegian experience in regard to strengthening democratic principles is extremely important for our state”, and noted that according to Transparency International assessment for 2012, Norway is among the ten countries with the lowest level of corruption in the public sector.

 

The Parties have discussed the possibilities of deepening cooperation between Ukraine and Norway within the framework of corruption counteraction.

 

J.Fredriksen said that Norwegian Embassy initiates its own project aiming at development and support of civil society in Ukraine. He stressed also the necessity of strengthening dialogue between Ukrainian parliament members and representatives of international community to fairly and openly discuss the existing political problems and find solution to them. Norwegian Ambassador believes that this would be a reliable basis for fruitful cooperation between Ukraine and the international institutions.  

 

Top priority tasks and plans of the Committee in regard to organized crime and corruption combating for 2013 were also discussed during the meeting.
